UWPR and EH&S Resources
UWPR safety guidelines
All UWPR users must read and abide by the safety guidelines.
- No food in the lab.
- Always wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment. Gloves, goggles, and disposable lab coats are available for you to use. If you cannot find them or are unsure what PPE to use, ask us for help.
- Do not use any of the equipment unless you have been trained by UWPR personnel.
- Review the SOPs before using any chemicals.
- Make sure your EH&S training is up to date, including the “Compressed Gas Safety” training required to use the pressure cells. Check the status of your training records at EH&S My Training (UW NetID required).

UW Accident Prevention Plan
The UW Accident Prevention Plan covers the anticipated occupational hazards that generally apply to employees across the University. It outlines the policies and procedures implemented to reduce or eliminate these hazards.
Laboratory Risk Assessment Tool (Lab R.A.T.)
The Laboratory Risk Assessment Tool (Lab R.A.T.) helps researchers systematically identify and control hazards to reduce the risk of injuries and incidents. The UWPR Lab R.A.T. assessments are in a folder on the shelf next to the flammable cabinet in Brotman B59.
Incident reporting (OARS)
Report any work-related injury or illness to your supervisor as soon as possible. Then report it to Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) via the Online Accident Reporting System (OARS). Submit the OARS report within 24 hours.

The Report a Concern form allows you to anonymously report any safety concern or potentially hazardous situation before an accident or injury occurs.
