Parts and consumables used on the UWPR LC-MS systems

Self-service users provide their own consumables, most importantly autosampler vials, the analytical column, and the trapping column. You can pack your own columns using the UWPR packing station. See the column preparation protocols on the Protocols & Methods page.

The tables below list the parts we and our collaborators order most often. Bold rows are the consumables routinely used for bottom-up proteomics at the UWPR. The remaining rows are alternatives that also work on our systems. Most products are listed with their Fisher Scientific catalog number, but they may be found from other vendors. For quality control runs, UWPR users can use the UWPR-provided angiotensin/neurotensin peptide standard. Any other standard must be supplied by the user.

Column packing supplies

Analytical columns use about 50 cm of 75 µm ID fused silica each; trap columns (EASY-nLC) use about 30 to 40 cm of 100 µm ID fused silica and are reusable many times.
